SPECIAL TRAINING WITH SENSEI WICKS

This will be a unique opportunity for all of the WADO karate family to train together with Sensei Jon Wicks. The participation of each and everyone will reflect the passion and dedication of all of us towards the WIKF as personified by its founder Prof. Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei.

Training will be the 11th and 12th of September 2024.

KATA COMPETITION

 

TANTO DORI RULES SENIORS & VETERANS

1. Unlimited teams per country with 2 members per team (can be male with female).
2. First, one member of the team must attack with two techniques: one technique from number 1 to 5 and one technique from number 6 to 10.
3. After the second attack, the defender must obtain the knife and change to attack: they must also do two techniques: one technique from number 1 to 5 and one technique from number 6 to 10. Each technique must be different to those executed by the first team member.
4. After member two’s second attack, member one must regain the knife to end the demonstration.
5. There are 2 teams: AKA and AO. Team AKA will start. Flag system will be used.
6. In the second round, teams must perform separate techniques from 1 to 5 and 6 to 10 again.
7. They can repeat previous techniques in the Finals.

TANTO DORI RULES CADETS & JUNIORS

Must use a wooden tanto.

COMPETITION TOOLS & REGULATIONS

THE EVENT IS ONLY FOR WIKF MEMBERS OTHERWISE A PENALTY FOR THE COUNTRY WILL OCCUR.
1. In Individual Kumite, each country can enroll 5 competitors per category/weight. This tournament will be run according to the WKF rules of competition Kumite.
1.1. The application of rules will be the referees responsibility by international qualifications of WKF or EKF.
1.2. Each country or delegation can enroll their own referees and judges, providing they are properly certified by their respective national federations or by EKF-WKF.
1.3 Each country/delegation must enroll at least 1 kumite referee for all 3 days, otherwise there will be a penalty of €500.
2. In Team Kumite, each country can enroll 4 teams in each category.
2.1. In Cadets and Juniors, the teams should have 3 main competitors and 1 reserve. But, they can still participate with only 2 main competitors.
2.2. In Senior (+18) Team categories there must be 3 competitors and 2 reserves.
3. Competitors can only participate in their own age category in individuals but can compete in the age above in team events.
4. In Individual Kata, each country can enroll 5 Competitors per category. The official WIKF numeric score card will be used.
4.1. In the 1st round, the competitor must perform the obligatory kata defined in the list for the category. (See kata table).

4.2. In 2nd round the competitor must perform a kata of choice, different from the kata performed in the 1st round. (See kata table).
4.3. If there is a 3rd round, competitors cannot repeat the kata performed in the 1st or 2nd round, they must perform a new kata.
4.4. In case of a tie, in any category, the kata to break the tie must be different than the kata performed in the previous round.
5.0 In Tanto Dori, cadets & juniors (14-17) will compete in the same one category.
5.1 If 2 seniors (18-34) in Tanto Dori make a team, they must compete in the Senior event. If 2 veterans (35+) in Tanto Dori make a team, they must compete in the Veteran event.
5.2 If a Tanto Dori team consist of 1 senior and 1 veteran, they must compete in the Senior event.
5.3 If there are less than 6 Tanto Dori teams in Seniors or Veterans, the categories will merge. Cadets & Juniors will remain separate.
6.0 Each coach must be properly registered with WIKF and follow procedures.
6.1. It is only allowed for 1 coach to be next to the tatami by category, fully dressed in sports garment of its country;
6.2. Each coach must wear, at all times, the official identification accreditation, in order to remain next to the Tatami.
6.3. Only 5 coaches per country are allowed in Kumite and Kata.
6.4. Only 2 coaches per country or delegation are allowed in the general coach reunion.

7. All the competitors and coaches must be present, during the delegation registration, the identity card and WIKF passport which must have been signed after the WIKF World Championships in Greenville 2024 until before the WIKF Europa Cup 2023 either by Sensei Jon Wicks or a member of the World Technical Committee to prove participation in at least 1 seminar. Non presentation of these documents will mean no participation in the event.
7.1. All countries must be up to date with their annual WIKF contribution. Any countries who are not in order with this, cannot participate or register for the championship.
8. All the competitors of individual Kumite are obliged to present themselves to the weight control in the category that they are registered in. The control of weight will be very strict.
9. All competitors must have the proper WIKF badge on their karate gi.
10. To change category at weigh in, a penalty of $15 must be paid.
11. Changing from one weight category to another is only possible, with no fee when a properly justified report is prepared by the head representative of the country or delegation and is handed to the organisation committee, before the 1st September 2024.
12. The organizing committee of the event has the responsibility of resolving any problems that may occur during the event in consultation with Sensei Jon Wicks.

 

 

PROTECTION

The obligatory protection for each event will be as defined in the official competition rules.
Gloves, leg and foot protection must be of red or blue color. Mouth guards, chest guards must be used by all contestants. Female participants must wear the chest protection and male participants must wear the groin guards.
